The CWDM system is based on 8-channel optical filters, with one upgrade port for the easy addition of more channels at a later stage. The wavelengths are chosen according to the iTU-T G.694.2 standard to ensure maximum interoperability. The wavelengths of the signal cards must correspond tothe wavelengths of the optical filters, whereas the signal formats running on those wavelengths can be chosen to suit the signal transport needs. The filters comes with SC/UPC connections.
