Nevion promotes multi-vendor support at IBC 2017

Demonstrations to feature the latest standards including SMPTE 2110 and NMOS

Oslo, Norway, 11 September 2017Nevion, the award-winning provider of virtualized media production solutions, today announced that it will be promoting multi-vendor approaches for media networks on its booth and elsewhere at IBC in Amsterdam, 15-19 September 2017.

Nevion has been a firm believer in standards and open, multi-vendor support for many years. The company is actively involved in defining and promoting standards through industries bodies such as VSF, SMPTE, and AIMS (of which it is a founding member).

At IBC 2017, Nevion media nodes will feature on the IP Showcase booth (room E106), with demonstrations of SMPTE 2110-10/20/30 interoperability with other vendors, as well as registration, discovery and control through using NMOS IS-04 and IS-05.

On its own booth (1.B71), Nevion will be demonstrating interoperability with equipment from Meinberg (PTP grandmaster), Phabrix (IP network traffic analysis and stress testing) and Tektronix (IP real-time monitoring and analysis). It will also be highlighting its support for multi-vendor IP networks, with equipment from Arista, Cisco, Juniper and Mellanox.

On the BT booth (D.02), Nevion’s media nodes and VideoIPath will be part of a demonstration of BT’s next generation outside broadcast network.

On the Huawei booth (4.C70), there will be a demonstration of an IP media network, with Nevion’s network management and service orchestration software, VideoIPath, controlling Nevion media nodes and Huawei switches.

Elsewhere at the show, Nevion is providing SMPTE 2022-6 and SMPTE 2110 capable media nodes to Arista (8.A21), Cisco (1.A71), Elemental (5.C80), Phabrix (10.B12) and Vizrt (7.A20).

Andy Rayner, Chief Technologist at Nevion explains: “We feel it is essential to provide our customers with choice. That’s why our equipment, including our flagship software-defined media node Virtuoso, is specifically designed for interoperability with other vendors. Crucially, our network management and service orchestration, VideoIPath is also vendor-agnostic. With Nevion solutions, customers will not be locked in.”

Andy Rayner will be presenting on the IP Showcase Booth (E.106) on the subject of “Essential Elements of the Evolution to Essence – practical examples of the technology journey from SDI and 2022-6 to 2110”, on Friday 15 September (11:10am-11:30am), Saturday 16 September (3pm-3:20pm) and Sunday 17 September (4:40pm-5pm).
